Stewart, Piggott, Adams & Killen Family Trees

The family image at the top of each page is that of the George Piggott family. George, born in 1861, was among the first generation of the Piggotts born in Canada. The image was taken circa 1910 judging from the apparent ages of the children.

Seated in the chairs are George and his wife Sarah Jane (nee Mathers). Below are a list of the children.

    Edwin Piggott (1884-1973)
  • Lenora Piggott (1887-1981)
  • Bertha Piggott (1890-1974)
  • William Garbutt Piggott (1893-1960)
  • Edith Rachael Piggott (1897-1986)

George's father, James, immigrated to Canada in 1827 at the age of 17. On arriving he became engaged in butchering for a Mr. Dunn, in which capacity he served the troops with provisions during the Rebellion of 1837-38. About 1869 Mr. Piggott became Toll Keeper on the Davenport Road, Toronto, and remained in that capacity for about twenty years.

This image is a picture of the toll booth James Piggott (my great, great, grandfather) worked in. Click here for a full size image of the Danforth Toll Booth

Who's who?

I've joined two family trees together in this site. That of my family and that of my wife, Elaine. When searching names you'll see references to two trees.

The Stewart-Piggott tree is my family.

The Adams-Killen tree is my wife's family.

The only intersection between these two trees is myself, Elaine and our kids. Otherwise, by checking the tree name you'll know which side of our family you're looking at.
